Vocational Expert Services
Established in 1977, Regain is one of the most highly respected providers of vocational evaluation services in California. Regain's vocational experts provide thorough, objective vocational evaluations for individuals involved in the divorce process, and qualify under the criteria as defined in Family Code Section §4331. Each of our vocational experts possesses a master's degree in a behavioral science, and have experience in interviewing clients and assessing their marketable skills. Our experts also have knowledge of the current employment market, familiarity with available educational and training programs, and years of experience determining current and future wage earning capacity. Our vocational evaluators have qualified as experts in most Southern California courts, and have earned excellent reputations. In addition to the Southern California area, our experts have conducted evaluations in other U.S. states, Mexico, and as far away as Australia.
The vocational evaluation process begins with a meeting with the petitioner or respondent to obtain pertinent information relating to work and educational history, social/family circumstances, health, interests/goals, and job search activity. A transferable skills analysis (TSA) is conducted to assist in identifying alternative occupations which may utilize the skills and abilities gained from former employment. We use a state-of-the art software system (OASYS) to assist our experts with skills assessment for career exploration and development, as well as placement support. If appropriate, vocational testing is administered to help identify areas of strength and/or areas needing improvement. Extensive labor market research is then conducted to identify appropriate job openings.
Once sufficient information is obtained, the vocational expert prepares a comprehensive report summarizing the research results, and providing an opinion regarding the petitioner or respondent's current employability and wage earning capacity.
Upon request, our vocational experts can provide expert witness testimony to clarify and confirm their findings.
Labor Market/Wage Earning Capacity Research
On those occasions when a full vocational evaluation is not required, labor market/wage earning capacity research can be conducted without the need to meet with the petitioner or respondent. The research is based upon a review of materials provided to our research team, and includes direct telephone contact with employers and placement professionals. A report is then generated that includes a summary of the research results, followed by an expert opinion regarding the individual's employability and wage earning capacity.
Expert Witness Testimony
Our vocational experts are available to provide their expert opinions on vocational matters in both depositions and courtroom testimony. As members of the American Board of Vocational Experts, Regain's vocational experts are well versed in the importance of providing clear, concise, and objective testimony. Having given hundreds of hours of courtroom testimony, our vocational experts have developed a reputation for providing clear, concise, and objective testimony.
